After much blood, sweat, and tears (just not as far as the Red Dead Redemption team), the new More Than Gaming site is ready to merge old users from the community, and welcome new ones. Hopefully the revamped website will encourage word of mouth, and make it easier for all of you to get involved with our tight-knit group.
For returning users, all you need to do to get back on is simply go to this link and follow the instructions. We promise it’s stress free…unless you can’t read that is. Then we may have a bit of a problem (but we’ll still help you through it). Now onto what’s changed! At our core, the site is completely different. We now use the enwest version of the vBulletin software suite giving us a serious edge. We can customize, expand, and do far more with this system. It gives us a lot of freedom, which is fantastic.
The forums, in which we can use to bash each other (which we don’t recommend…unless it’s deserved), or simply have conversations like decent humans, has changed for the better as well. The hub of the community life has a chatroom at the top, edited boards, social networking integration, and lots more. Make sure to check out your profile settings to make sure you're taking advantage of all the new features!
For the people who think they have excellent articles or news to submit, you now have the opportunity to do so. The front page has an article system which allows any user to create an article, submit it for review, and then site writers can publish your works. If you are interested, simply post an article! If it's good, it'll get published on the front page! If it’s not, we promise we won’t throw crap at you, unless you bash Uncharted 2 that is.
Another really neat feature is the ability to have your own blogs! Now, you can post whatever you’re feeling towards…well, anything – it’s a blog! Users can create new blog posts, comment on each other’s thoughts, and upload pictures into their photo album. This can be useful for documenting your gaming adventures!
The Wiki is a full MediaWiki (Wikipedia) for members to add their own articles related to gaming or the site in general. Personally, I'll (Napster) be adding some of the meme's we've created in the teamspeak! Add whatever you would like (as long as it follows the rules).
HLX Stats CE is our software for monitoring our Counter-Strike Source and Teamspeak 3 servers. As we grow, we can add new servers to this list. Users can see their statistics, view graphs of how well they do versus other players, or see how many people are in a server. If you’re into Counter-Strike, check out our servers!
As you can see, it’s definitely improved on every level, and we can only hope for more growth as time goes on! You can look forward to multiple podcasts, youtube videos, and more content than your little hearts can desire! So grab a seat, and get mesmerized by the new More Than Gaming site!
